Eventing in the SCA

Going to events (Eventing) in the SCA is quite simple once you have the basics of what you need.
Most events are 'day events' where you only need to take the basics - feasting gear if there is a feast or food, your fair attempt at Medieval Garb, and yourself. If the event is distant like Festival or Great Northern War or similar, you need to make some decisions!

1. Decision 1. Do you tent it or stay in Hotel/Motel accomadation ?
2. Decision 2. If tenting, what sort of tent ?
3. Decision 3. If period tenting, what period ?

If a camping event, you also need some basics that you must take along.

• Bedding - preferably raised off the ground if tenting.
• Eating utensils (Feasting Gear)
• Cooking utensils (if you do your own meals)
• Garb - and somewhere to hang it
• Lighting
• Storage of fighting gear (If a fighter)

You will need something large enough to transport this too, either your own vehicle (and possibly trailer) or hiring of space in someone elses.
Often you can find someone with enough space to take you and your gear to the event.

Before the event you will need to book for it, and arrange payment, before the cut-off date, with the Event Bookings Officer.
Often this is the Steward of the event however it may be someone else, especially with large events.
Some large events can be booked and pre-paid online.
